Pakistan team’s captain Rohail Nazir aims complete focus and positiveness as all eyes are set on the upcoming ICC U19 World Cup, starting from January 17 in South Africa.
“I think all the world is watching us. This is a big platform and performing here would take us on top. We want to focus on our game and play with a positive approach,” said Rohail in captains’ presser.
Rohail recalled their series in South Africa last year which they won 7-0 against the home side. “We had a good time here back last year. Boys are aware of the conditions and we have prepared ourselves accordingly,” he said. “We had a long training camp back at home where we practiced a lot for this tournament. As I mentioned earlier that this is an ICC event, which means the whole world is watching so every one of us is eying to make a mark,” the wicket-keeper batsman added.
Rohail, 18, wants to finish the tournament on high and shake the record books as Virat Kohli, Pakistan’s Babar Azam and many other greats did. “I personally feel that if I perform here, maybe I get a chance to come across with more power,” he concluded.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan is placed in Group C of the event alongside Scotland, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh. The green shirts will start the tournament playing against Scotland on January 19.
