“Inzi and I spoke a lot, we spoke after every game,” said Arthur. “We are very clear in the direction we want, we are very clear in the team that is going to represent Pakistan at the World Cup.”
He also said that he will be meeting coaches this afternoon, where he will discuss individual plans for each each players and it will be a build for our players for the series in England in their backyard.
“Inzi, myself and selectors will sit down in the next couple of days and start our final work towards their World Cup squad,” he said. “We will have fitness testing around April 14 or 15.”
He talked about preparing plans for even reserve players as he is wary of injuries during the long World Cup campaign and he wants reserve players ready to fire.
The head coach identified that the difference in skills of the regular players and players played during the Australia series.
“There was a huge gap in the fielding of players who are new to the system and with whom we have worked for two years, we cannot let it ever happen again,” he said.
The head coach has all praise for Abid Ali, who scored a century on his debut, he seemed impressed with his attitude and work ethic. He also hailed Umar Akmal for the hard work he put in in the tour and said that he must be disappointed for not getting a big inning.
As Arthur is ready to discuss all the individual plans today and meet Inzamam Ul Haq, they will decide a date on which they will announce the World Cup squad.
