Lahore: Pakistan’s newly appointed spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed is confident for men’s team tour of England but also thinks that it will be tough for coaches along with players.
“We are already preparing players mentally and the series against for England will be tough for players as well as coaches,” the 49-year-old said while speaking to reporters via video conference.
On his experience, Mushtaq emphasized that he had played cricket in England and was also associated as a coach after his retirement.
“I played county cricket for in England for 11 years and coached the team for six years. I was working with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the spin bowling consultant at the NCA. I will try my best to train the players in the light of my experience,” he added.
Mushtaq, on his appointment, said that having four experienced coaches together would be very beneficial for the Pakistan team. “Younis Khan and I will be helping hands for Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis,” he maintained.
It must be noted here that the PCB, via a press release, announced the appointments for men’s batting coach and spin bowling coach. The appointment of both the former cricketers is initially for just England’s tour.
Pakistan team has to tour England a ‘bio-secure’ tour from July to September. The tour includes three Tests and as many T20Is.
