Pakistan’s all-rounder Imad Wasim refused to give up hope as he believes that the side will qualify for the semi-final stage of ICC World Cup 2019 despite losing three out of five games.
In his recent interview after facing a crushing defeat from the arch-rivals India by 89 runs, the 30-year-old said, “This was a really, really disappointing result for us,” he said. “When we came back on after the rain there was very little we could do, but we know we have four matches left and if we win those, we still have a chance.”
“Results of the other countries may come into play. From our point of view, we can only do what we can. What is in our hands is to try to win all four games and take it from there.”
Pakistan must win all four of their remaining group games to have any chance of reaching the World Cup semi-finals.
The men in green will face South Africa on Sunday, June 23 at Lord’s. Pakistan is currently standing at the ninth position with only minnows Afghanistan below them in the 10-team table.
