The two-time World T20 champions, West Indies will play a three-match T20I series against Pakistan in Karachi, Najam Sethi announced on Sunday.
West Indies were all set to tour Pakistan in April, where they had to play the first two games in Lahore on 1st and 2nd April and the series decider was to be played in Karachi on the 4th of April.
However, Sethi has now announced that National Stadium Karachi will host all three games of the series on the scheduled dates.
Sethi said security experts will tour Karachi again to clear the venues for West Indies series.
“Reg Dickason and his men will be here during PSL final and we have contracted them to oversee the West Indies games as well. Their expert will stay back for seven days at our expense and conduct the security for West Indies series and this is part of our agreement with West Indies board.
“This will be a one-off series because I told you earlier that this probably will be a loss-making enterprise. The idea wasn’t to make or lose money as it was meant to bring cricket back so this is the step in that direction.”
Sethi said there are talks on a tri-series in the USA, for a period of five years.
“We have a separate agreement with the West Indies in which we are exploring a tri-lateral series including Pak, WI and one other country possibly Bangladesh but it can be some other country which will be played in the USA in next five years.
“The details about the venues, dates, financial model will be discussed later but in principle, it has decided that three of us will play in the USA.”
Najam Sethi is striving to bring international cricket back to Pakistan and he believed that holding Pakistan Super League’s matches in Pakistan will pave way for the cause.
Last year, the final of PSL was staged in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore and later the venue hosted a star-studded World XI side in a T20I series and later it hosted Sri Lanka, the team that was attacked in 2009 that took the international cricket away from Pakistan.
The final of the third edition of PSL is scheduled to take place in Karachi on March 25th.
The response from foreign players has been overwhelming so far as the majority of them are ready to visit Pakistan for the two playoffs in Lahore and the final in Karachi.
