NELSON: The West Indies made 304-7 after being sent into bat against Ireland in their first World Cup match at Saxton Oval in Nelson Monday.

Lendl Simmons made 102 and Darren Sammy posted his highest ODI score of 89.

For Ireland, George Dockrell took three for 50.
