Abu Dhabi: Bowling coach of Multan Sultans, Azhar Mahmood thinks that Pakistan have found a new ‘Shoaib Akhtar’ in rookie pacer Shahnawaz Dahani.
The 22-year-old Dahani was the leading wicket-taker in 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 20 wickets in 11 games. He was also awarded emerging player of the tournament.
“Dahani is always smiling, whether he’s been hit or now. The whole team lights up. It’s like we’ve found a new Shoaib Akhtar,” Mahmood said after Sultans bagged PSL title for the first time.
“This is just a start for him, we’ll work on his outswingers, on his inswinger. There are things I will write down in a report for the Pakistan bowling coach [Waqar Younis] all the things he needs to work on,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dahani was jubilated and expressed his excitement. “This was my first year, Multan Sultans showed faith in Dahani and Dahani repaid. Now we’re both PSL champions.”
