The sudden inclusion of the veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez in the national Test squad which will take on Australia in the first Test on October 7, has come as a surprise.

Hafeez who will make a comeback in the longest format of the game after almost two years, will travel to Dubai by the ‘first available flight’.

Pakistan team already had two additional players and the inclusion of Hafeez as the 18th man has strengthened the Pakistani squad.

Pakistan with the inclusion of Hafeez now have four spinners in the conditions where there are spin friendly wickets.

Apart from bowling, Hafeez can be a trump card for Pakistan with the bat as the 37-years-old has a test batting average of 52.75 in the UAE.

However, he has played overall 50 Tests for Pakistan scoring 3,452 runs at an average of 39.22.

He can be essential for Pakistan in the middle order where they usually collapse.

As compared to batting stats, Hafeez was not that much effective with the bowl in the UAE as he only averages 39.

The chief selector Pakistan cricket team, Inzamam-ul-Haq thinks that the addition of Hafeez as another spinning option would add some potential to the team.

It was also said that his experience will help other bowlers to understand the conditions much earlier.

On the other hand, seasoned leggy Yasir Shah will also play a key role for Pakistan against the Aussies who are missing Steven Smith and David Warner–two of their main batsmen.

Yasir who is making a comeback after recovering from an injury, have 165 Test wickets in his account.

The 19-years-old, Shadab will be the next really good option for Pakistan as the young man only played four Test for Pakistan so far.

After the team’s disappointing performance in the Asia Cup, the cricket pundits are expecting a strong comeback from the seventh test ranked team [Pakistan] in long format of the game.
