Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be considering a new player to fill in Misbah-ul-Haq’s shoes as one day captain of the team after he retired from the 50 over format of the game following Pakistan’s exit from the World Cup on Friday, ARYSports.tv reports.
Misbah had announced that he will bid farewell to one day after the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. His team was eliminated in the quarter final stage after losing the encounter to Australia by six wickets.
PCB now has to appoint a new captain who will lead the green shirts in the future. The board is considering the names of seniors in the current lot like Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad for the position.
Some of the board members are even considering Shoaib Malik for Pakistan’s ODI captain.
Out-of-form Younus Khan has also expressed his desire of leading the Pakistan team. It should be noted that Khan has failed to make a mark in Pakistan’s bid for the world championship.
However, the supporters wish to see a young player leading the team from the front. The cricket crazy nation saw emerging talents such as Sarfraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, who could possibly be leading Pakistan in the future.
Only time will tell who the selectors appoint the new captain for the team.
