All set to feature in World Cup 2015, Pakistan pacer Rahat Ali has said that he will prove his surprise selection when the time comes.
“The selectors have put faith in me… I will not let them down and I will perform well in World Cup for the nation,” Rahat Ali said.
He added that he has toured with Pakistan cricket team around seven or eight times and he is not a rookie as he has been though by the people.
“I am not completely new to international cricket and I have toured for seven or eight times with the team in the past,” he said. Rahat has played only one ODI but has played eleven tests.
The selectors have come under immense criticism after taking a surprise decision to call Rahat Ali as replacement for injured Junaid Khan.
Meanwhile, opener Nasir Jamshed has also been picked to replace experienced Mohammad Hafeez, who also picked an injury and has been ruled out for World Cup.
“I will do my best,” Nasir said. “I am looking forward to play well in the World Cup and put some good performances for Pakistan.”
Both Rahat Ali and Nasir Jamshed will be available for selection for Pakistan’s first match of the tournament against India, which will be played at Adelaide Oval on February 15.
