If they win

– Williams would win her 22nd Grand Slam title equalling the Open-era record (since 1968) set by Steffi Graf in 1999. She would also, at 34, be the oldest winner of the French Open.

– Muguruzu would win her maiden Grand Slam title at the age of 22 and become the first Spanish woman to win a Grand Slam since Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in Paris in 1998.

What they say

Williams – “I think Muguruza has been playing really well. She’s been playing a really aggressive game and going for her shots. Regardless, I think it will be a good match. I mean, last time we played here in France she was able to win the match.”

Muguruza – “I think I’m going to fight for each point. There will be moments when she’ll be dominating, and maybe at times I will be dominating. I think I can be a tough opponent, too.”
