Karachi: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi, who also heads PCB Executive Committee, says that the nation should now forgive tainted pacer Mohammad Amir since international community has already done that.
“We follow the international benchmarks in cricket. Since the international community has forgiven Amir then we should also follow their footsteps and accept Amir again,” Najam Sethi said.
While being chairman of PCB, Najam Sethi played pivotal role in presenting Amir’s case at International Cricket (ICC) forum.
“Amir has served his punishment, so looking forward to bring Amir back I don’t think it collides with our ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption.
“Amir showed remorse and completely cooperated with ICC’s anti-corruption unit. That is the reason ICC has shown some soft stance on him. So if they feel Amir deserves a second chance then why shouldn’t we,” questioned Sethi.
Amir has been allowed to play domestic cricket and would be allowed to once again play international cricket once his ban expires on September 2.
