Sarfraz Ahmed expressed the importance of World Cup for teams and players as the global cricketing event gives birth to heroes and superstars.
“The World Cup is one event in which the world is watching you and everyone is following you,” said Sarfraz Ahmed. “The importance of players is realised during this crunch time. The World Cup gives birth to heroes and superstars,” he added.
Pakistan’s skipper further stated that unlike the previous editions of World Cup, the Men in Green should not be considered as the underdogs during the tournament.
“Pakistan always goes into tournaments as underdogs but I don’t think it will be the same this time because people remember that we have won the Champions Trophy,” he said.
The 30-year old Wicketkeeper batsman further talked about Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup and their first match against the Windies.
“The World Cup is important for all teams. Our first match is against the West Indies. The first match is always important, so all our preparations are geared towards that match and the tournament. We are trying to iron out our deficiencies during this period,” he stated.
The World Cup 2019 will be played from May 30th to July 14th in England. The most anticipated contest of the whole tournament between Pakistan and India will be played on June 16th in Manchester.
