PERTH: India continue their winning streak in the World Cup as they defeated West Indies by four wickets here at Perth on Friday, ARY Sports reports.
West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Carribean side could only manage 182 runs on the board. Captain Jason Holder made 57 runs from 64 balls whereas Darren Sammy scored 26 runs from 55 deliveries.
Chris Gayle and Jonathan Carter made 21 runs each for the team.
Mohammad Shami took three wickets in his eight overs while Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed two wickets each. Ravi Ashwin and Mohit Sharma also shared one wicket each.
Needing 183 runs to win in their allotted 50 overs, India reached their target in 39.1 overs and four wickets to spare.
Captain M.S. Dhoni made 45 runs from 56 balls while Virat Kohli scored 33 runs from 36 balls.
Suresh Raina and Ravi Ashwin contributed 22 and 16 runs for the team respectively.
Windies pacers Jerome Taylor and Andre Russell each took two wickets whereas Kemar Roach and Dwayne Smith also grabbed one wicket as well.
Mohammad Shami was named Man of the Match for his three wicket haul.
