BRISBANE: Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah-ul-Haq has said that former players should think about the country before criticizing the team for its performance in the World Cup, ARY Sports reports.
Misbah-ul-Haq, speaking in a news conference here in Brisbane, said that the team does not want any propaganda. He added that former players should think about the country before criticizing the team as the side is under pressure after the losses to India and West Indies.
It should be noted that former Pakistani cricketers have harshly criticized the team for its performance in the World Cup so far.
Retired fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, in an interview had called Misbah as “perhaps the most coward captain in the history of Pakistan cricket.”
Wasim Akram had warned Pakistan to win or go home after their loss to West Indies while Aaqib Javed had blamed the selectors for the green shirts’ comprehensive defeats so far.
The green shirts captain also said that the match against Zimbabwe is crucial. He stated that the team has to improve its performance and win the match. He added that the Moin Khan scandal will not make any difference to the side.
He added that the playing XI against the African side has been finalized but cannot disclose the team before the match.
Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura said that his side is capable of beating Pakistan but is concerned aboutthe team’s bowling department.
“Pakistan is a good side and the match will be tough”, Chigumbura said.
