KARACHI: Pakistan were thrashed 6-1 by Australia in their Pool A fixture of the World Hockey League in Antwerp, ARYSports.tv reports.
Jacob Whettin gave Australians lead in the ninth minute of the match but Pakistan equalised the score line thanks to a penalty corner goal by Mohammad Imran in the 13th minute.
Australia again went ahead after Daniel Beale netted the ball on a penalty corner in the 32nd minute of the match.
Mattew Swann and Jamie Dwayer scored in the 42nd and 49th minute of the match while Blake Govers made it 5-1 for the world champions in the 54th minute.
Govers scored his second goal of the match in the 58th minute to make it 6-1.
Pakistan has to win their upcoming two matches in the tournament in order to qualify for the quarter final stage of the competition. They take on arch rivals India on Friday (today).
