Yasir Shah aims to improve his bowling under Mushtaq Ahmed’s coaching

Lahore: Leg-spinner Yasir Shah has aimed to improve his bowling under the mentorship of newly-appointed spin bowling consultant Mushtaq Ahmed as he has failed to perform recently in Test cricket.

Wrist spinner Yasir Shah, who is the fastest bowler to take 200 Test wickets in terms of innings is also hoping to win a Test series in England as Pakistan last won in 1996.

“Mushtaq has been one of my mentors. During his career as a spin bowling coach, he has helped a number of slow bowlers to become more effective,” Yasir said.

“I feel my recent Test performances have not been up to my expectations but, if selected and with Mushtaq on my side, I hope to play a big part in the team’s overall objective of winning the first Test series in England since 1996,” he added.

It must be noted that Mushtaq was working as a spin bowling consultant at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) previously.

It must be noted here that the PCB, via a press release, announced the appointments for men’s batting coach and spin bowling coach. The appointment of both the former cricketers is initially for just England’s tour.

Pakistan team has to tour England a ‘bio-secure’ tour from July to September. The tour includes three Tests and as many T20Is.
