Yasir Shah doubtful for first test match !

Pakistan’s trump card with the ball Yasir Shah is suffering from an injury and he might not play the first test match versus England starting tomorrow.

Yasir is suffering from a back spasm injury as he fell while bowling during the training and practice session in Abu Dhabi. Captain Misbah ul haq was worried and expressed his concerns while talking to media in a press conference just after the news broke out. He said that Yasir’s injury is a big blow for us and will affect the team’s combination as we move closer to the first test. The final decision regarding Yasir Shah will be taken before the match tomorrow but Misbah was hopeful that Yasir Shah will be fine and will take part in the match.

If Yasir does not play then Pakistan will have their work cut out against England as this would be a huge sigh of relief for the English batsman who would have found him difficult to handle under the conditions which facilitate spin bowling. Zulfiqar Babar will ahve to play a lead role and head our spin department. Yasir’s injury will surely boost Shoaib Malik’s chances to play the test match as he can bowl as well through his off spinners. Malik is currently tied with Fawad Alam as to who will make it into the final eleven in the absence of the already injured Azhar Ali.

Misbah said in press conference  (AFP)

“He was walking well in the dressing room but we will have to take a final decision in the morning,” said Misbah, hinting that one of the left-arm spinners who played against England in the first warm-up game last week could be summoned up.

Regarding his replacement he said that Zafar Gohar and Mohammad Asghar are in contention to replace him if required

“Yes, we are looking into it and any of the two left-arm spinners could be called in will be fit in the morning,” said Misbah
