Shah’s five-for puts Pakistan in the driving seat

ABU DHABI: Pakistan made a superb comeback in the first Test of series against Sri Lanka, where they dismissed the opponents for just 138 runs.

Yasir Shah was instrumental in the game with his 12th five-wicket haul of his career that put Pakistan in the driving seat.

None of Sri Lankan batsmen could show much resistance other than Niroshan Dickwella who remained unbeaten on 40 runs. Dimuth Karunaratne was the second top scorer with 25 runs.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas got two wickets, Hasan Ali, Haris Sohail and Asad Shafiq got one wicket apiece.

Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka won the toss and posted a firm total of 419 runs, with the courtesy of Dinesh Chandimal’s 155* and Karunaratne’s 93 runs.

Pakistan gave a strong reply by scoring 422 runs, Shan Masood, Sami Aslam, Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail scored 59, 51, 85 and 76 runs respectively.
