Yasir Shah bettered a number of records as he destroyed New Zealand’s batting line in both the innings of the second Test of the series by dismissing 14 of their batsmen in total, eight in the first inning and six in the second.
Shah equalled Imran Khan’s record of taking the most number of wickets (14) in a match. Khan took as many wickets in 1982 against Sri Lanka at Lahore.
The leg-spin sensation of Pakistan also made his way through in the list of elite leggies in the history of Test cricket as he now holds the third-best bowling figures in the longest format of the game, behind Yasir Hirwani and Anil Kumble who picked 16/136 and 14/149 respectively.
Moreover, Yasir Shah’s figures are best in any Test match played in the UAE and he also has the best bowling figures against New Zealand in this format of the game.
Yasir Shah’s magical spells in the Test earned Pakistan a convincing victory against the Kiwis by 16 runs and an inning, which levelled the three-match series by 1-1.
It is Pakistan’s first win by an inning in the UAE, furthermore, it is their first victory by such a margin in the last seven years.
