Team director Karachi Kings, Rashid Latif feels that they have not gone after big names in the players draft for PSL 4, instead, they have picked young and exciting players who will be available throughout the tournament.
“We are lucky to have young foreign players,” Latif said while talking to ARY News. “Aaron Summers, Ben Dunk and Liam Livingstone are all exciting cricketers,” he added.
The former skipper said that they want their maximum players to be available for the games scheduled in Pakistan, so they have kept the prospect in mind during the draft.
“We followed the same strategy in the previous edition as well. We had five or six international players for our game in Lahore in PSL 3, only Eion Morgan was not available. We have focused the same this time around, we wanted to pick players who will travel to Pakistan, it will be an advantage for Karachi Kings,” he said.
He also mentioned Sikander Raza and stated that he is a utility player, he can create an impact in the game all aspects of the game, be it batting, bowling or fielding.
Moreover, the 50-year-old is optimistic about local players and said that all the players they have picked have been doing well in the domestic circuit in the recent times.
“Iftikhar Ahmed has improved a lot in the last one year, then there is Awais Zia has played in the last season brilliantly. Ali Imran is a good player, he can bowl fast and also scored a century recently. We have brought back Abrar Ahmed, who has gained his fitness after a long time,” he added.
On the other hand, Mohammad Amir, Babar Azam, Usman Khan Shinwari and Imad Wasim will add the much needed balance and experienced to the side.
Latif said that all the teams are well-balanced and it will be the performance on the day in the ground that will make the difference.
