Karachi: Pakistan’s former Test cricketer Younis Khan comes forward in support of Fawad Alam and Sarfraz Ahmed, he thinks that they both should be in the national team.
While talking to the media in Karachi, Khan said that Fawad deserves to be in Pakistan’s Test side following his splendid record in domestic cricket. “He has been phenomenal when it comes to run-scoring. He should be in the Test team as his domestic record is exceptional,” he said.
Khan said that age should not be the criteria for selection. “I think age is just a number. I f a player is capable of delivering, he should be in the team regardless of his age,” he added.
It must be noted here that Fawad has been retained in Pakistan’s 16-member squad against Bangladesh. The left-handed batsman is still waiting for his chance as the national team went with an unchanged side from the Sri Lanka Test series.
Upon being asked, Khan said that removing Sarfraz from not only captaincy but from the squad gave a bad impression outside. “Removing Sarfraz completely from the picture was not the right decision. At least, he should have been in the squad as a player, especially in T20Is,” he concluded.
