Zalmi look to hold head high against Sultans

After winning the last contest against Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi are mentally strong to show their dominance against them in their upcoming match but Sultans’ last victory against Islamabad United will be an edge for them.

Both sides have quality players in their line-up but according to the points table, third-ranked Zalmi will be tougher for Sultans who is laying at the fifth spot.

With the likes of Kieron Pollard, Imam-ul-Haq, and Liam Dawson Zalmi is looking strong with the bat. Their right-handed opener Kamran Akmal is yet another option who can be a winning factor for them on his day. Akmal is failed to impress with his batting so far in this tournament but he can be lethal for Zalmi this time around.

Pollard’s four sixes in a row against same opponents in their last meet makes him compelling and Sultans will surely be looking to restrict the right-handed West Indian batsman.

Umar Siddiq, James Vince, Johnson Charles will hold the top order batting of Sultans. The trio keeps the ability to give a solid opening start to their team. Skipper Shoaib Malik will serve his team in the middle order. He has so far scored 191 runs in six matches at an average of 47.75.

Shahid Afridi and Hammad Azam will take responsibilities as the all-rounder as they both are well equipped for taking their side over the victory line. They can hit the ball hard coming down the order. Afridi is known for his power-hitting in death overs and can produce a worthy inning for his team against Zalmi.

In bowling, Zalmi have their highest wicket-taker Hasan Ali who is in blistering form taking 15 wickets so far. His ability to hunt wickets earlier gives Zalmi an upper hand. Wahab Riaz will support his compatriot with the bowl from the other hand. Umaid Asif and Sameen Gul are two of those bowlers who showed potential for their team.

Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan will lead the bowling attack of Sultans. Junaid has so far bagged eight wickets. Chris Green is a good spin option Sultans have in their line-up. Shahid Afridi will also play a key role with his leg-spin.

Both sides look formidable on the page but performance on the field will decide the results. Dubai stadium is ready to host yet another exciting contest of this year’s PSL, hopefully the teams will show fighting spirit.
