Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United will take on each other in the 20th and first fixture of Saturday’s double-header of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Both the teams will play their eighth match of the competition but it is looking like the rain is the most likely to be the winner. Their clash in Rawalpindi on February 29th also washed out due to rain.
United is sitting on the second spot of the table, one spot ahead of Zalmi. Both have the same number of points but the United’s run-rate has helped them secure the second spot.
United in their last match convincingly defeated Lahore Qalandars courtesy Colin Munro’s maverick and bowlers, who demoralized Qalandars’ batting.
Their bowling has peaked at the right time and after the inclusion of Dale Steyn, veteran South African pacer, the attack looks more balanced now. In most of the wins for United, their captain Shadab Khan has played a key role in all the departments of the game and they will again be hoping the same from the young lad.
On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi have decided to appoint Darren Sammy as the head coach of the franchise and will play if needed. Senior pacer Wahab Riaz has been rewarded the leadership duties. Zalmi top order have miserably failed in the middle of the tournament. Kamran Akmal, their most valuable batter in the past has only scored a century in this competition.
However, Shoaib Malik’s back to back scored of 50+ have strengthened their middle-order along with Lewis Gregory, English county player adding value with both bat and ball.
It must be noted that the players featuring in the match will don pink caps. They will be accompanied by young girls, wearing pink caps, to their fielding positions. In addition to this, match officials and commentators will also wear pink ribbons. The match will start at 2 pm.
