LAHORE: Zimbabwe cricket team will arrive here in Lahore on Monday night to play two Twenty20 (T20) and three one day games starting from 22nd May, ARYSports.tv reports.
The Zimbabwe team arrived at Dubai and will leave for Lahore after 15 hours stay.
Officials of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will give a warm welcome to the visiting team upon their arrival to the historical city. They will be escorted to their hotel under tight security.
According to the cricket board sources, the arrangements for Zimbabwe’s historic tour to Pakistan have been finalized and security has been placed on high alert.
PCB has assured the Zimbabwe cricket board that the team and match officials will be provided the head of state-level security throughout the tour of Pakistan whereas commandoes and law enforcement agencies will also provide protection to the team.
Punjab Home Minister Colonel (Retd.) Shuja Pasha has said that negligence reagrding security and hospitality will not be tolerated.
On the other hand, International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided not to send its match officials for Pakistan-Zimbabwe series after receiving a report from a security consultant, allowing the hosts to use their own officials.
Zimbabwe is set to become the first Test playing nation to tour Pakistan in six years after international cricket was suspended following a March 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore.
Pakistan and Zimbabwe will play two Twenty20 games on May 22 and 24 along with three one-day internationals (May 26, 29 and 31) — all in Lahore.
